Literature Text

I have been captivated
Completely engrossed at times (at Times)
With the intricacies involved in clockwork

The brass, the silver, the gold
Turning as if told to go
Never knowing error and spinning on
Teeth going--gone, interlocking only for seconds
Metallic ribbons unwinding in thirds
And fractions therein for the acute dimensions

The care taken to induce this precision
If ever looked upon with derision
Should be retracted, redacted
And they who judge should change how they reacted

For in all of this cautious planning,
Construction of the colossal in the small,
Architecture of the fast and all knowing
Pointing with tiny hands numbers for the slow
There exists a similarity

Between the warmth of the metal, it's softness

And the beating of the fragile organ

So small, yet so consistent,

And possessed, like clockwork,

Of and by love.
Wrote on a whim when my Miss suggested the subject of clockwork.

Guess who grinned at that one?

I like this alright, for taking all of ten minutes.
Criticism always welcome and appreciated.

Such a lovely poem.

I don't know if you are aware, there is a french book and cd with the same title as your poem. I must say, that is what first attracted me to this particular piece.
